I hate to be the one to break this to you, but… your textbook has been lying to you. |
|
|
You've probably been saying things like:
- "My name is…"
- "I would like a coffee."
- "I must go now."
|
|
|
Thinking you sound polite, natural and like a proper English speaker. And while these are technically correct, the problem is that no one actually talks like that. Every time you use one of these phrases, you're basically holding up a little sign that says, "I learnt English from a textbook!"
It's not your fault. These phrases are commonly taught in many English courses. But if you want to sound genuinely fluent and natural, today’s lesson is for you!

I'm walking you through 16 phrases you should stop saying and giving you the natural alternatives that we use in real life: coffee orders, introductions, invitations and even how to say goodbye… It turns out a lot of the basics you were taught aren't quite right.
Some of these are going to surprise you. Some might make you cringe a little when you realise how often you've been saying them. That's fine… actually, that's the entire point of this lesson!
By the end of today’s video, you'll have a brand new toolkit of phrases that sound like something a Brit would actually say.

Now, here's where things get really interesting!
|
|
When you download the free PDF that goes with this lesson, you're not just getting today's content.
I've also added a bonus lesson that's only available through the PDF: 15 really common phrases that proficient English speakers use daily!
Oh, and there are 15 ADDITIONAL phrases in the bonus lesson, so it's actually 30 phrases in total… maybe I should change the title. Note to self.

These are the phrases you've probably heard hundreds of times in films, on TV and in daily conversations. But now, you'll understand them. And hopefully, you’ll start using them too.
It's basically two lessons in one and both are completely free. You keep them for life so you can come back and review them whenever you need to.

Right, I'll let you get to it.
There's a quick quiz at the end of the video too, so keep track of how many you get right and let me know in the comments.
I want to know which of these 16 phrases you've been guilty of using. Be honest!
